Week 5 : Who owns the newspapers and TV stations in your country? Do you think this has an effect on the news that you hear?

       Who owns newspapers and TV stations in my home country? Based on my research and from the Wikipedia, I'm ensuring that newspapers and television in Malaysia are owned directly by the government of Malaysia or component parties of the Barisan National coalition government such as the Media Prima group. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_of_Malaysia) Why do I say so? Because Media Prima is a bigger company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia which controls the equity interests in television and newspaper. The television releases that been control by the Media Prima are TV3, 8TV, ntv7 and TV9 and the newspaper that been control too by the Media Prima are New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro. 

        Media Prima can be listed as important to my country as it is the source of transmission of information to the community via newspapers and television. Manifestly and undoubtedly, no links or sources of information dissemination, community would certainly left behind much and what more definite, the people in my home country would be become dying generation in the field of scholarly as newspapers and television are the media who publishes all sorts of information that may be beneficial to our daily life to ensuring that we are definitely not left behind out the latest development and issues of improving knowledge. We would discover current news events and overseas news of economic, political, social and others. Therefore, it is essential for us to know that the newspaper and television in Malaysia owned by whom since both media is a major source for the public obtain information and news that are happening around them for what deliver news and information that is disseminated the mainstream media, people will believes that the news is communicated and is shown to be true longer valid.

        Others than that, I think this has an impact on the news that I heard was because it may assist me to be more believe and continues to support this media to enhance progress. For example, the news that obviously we are know from the original source where it came from, people would undoubtedly not feel worry to read and watch the news that may give the authentic truth on all issues. In fact, the government that owns newspapers and broadcast television could formed the basis of more effective media that the programs on television and in print media reports may be produced in such a way so that they did not cause people to hate the government authorities as for knowing what is happening in our country due to they know where to hate or not and which is the true or false. Therefore, we must know the all things based from the original source to make life easier for us.

Week 4 : How often do you read the paper or watch the news on TV? How important is it for you to keep up with current events?

      Newspapers and television are the media which broadcasts a variety of information. Reading has a lot of benefits as well as watching television. Nowadays, reading materials such as newspapers easy we find in the shops nearby home and watching television were usually all homes have television. Thus, we surely not left behind from the issue of the latest developments and increase knowledge. We can get rid of being a frog under a coconut shell. For example, when we read the newspapers and watch television, we will find current news events within and outside the country either the news about economic, political, social and others. This will certainly enhance the quality of our lives due many facts we know.

      As we all know, since ancient times mainstream media such as newspapers and television are important as the main source for the public obtain information and news that is happening around them because whatever news delivered and information published by the mainstream media, the public going to believe that the news delivered and shown was true yet valid. All the latest news published in terms of the facts are true, then public until now does not had doubts about the validity of a news published by the mainstream media until the embedded within minds of the masses that all of the information and news delivered to them is a reliable, correct and may be applicable. Since they considers the mainstream media is always right so no wonder it acceptable in their life, although sometimes against their religious values.

     However, I honestly admit that I rarely read the news through newspapers or watch on television because I frankly not fond read and watching the news although I find out that it is very important to us as I mentioned just now, but for me know it through family and my friends was enough as I do not have ample time to spend some time to read and watching the news published. My horizon is a world of student and I never have enough time due to overly busied them in completing the assignment. More commonly while I talk or meet with family and my friends, they will be discussing topics which issued the news indirectly from I not know becoming know what the latest issues happening right now. So I do not have to worry about left behind and like a frog under the shell. Therefore, I surely will keep up with current happenings as I have a lot of friend whose can tell me and inform me same like my family always keep telling me what’s happening now in our world.

Week 3 : What is theatre and how you think theatre, as a media form, communicates messages to its audience?

       Communication is the transfer of information from one place to another. It requires highly understanding for successful communication where the transmitting and receiving able to conduct the information that conveying clearer and perfectly message. Communications has forms such as face to face, telephone, radio and television. Therefore, my opinion communication by face to face is one of the most efficient ways to communicate. The theater is one of the media form currently is very well known and suitable communication as it use face to face to interact with the audience.

      Why do I say so? Because theater is specializes in art acting and it been perform in front of the audiences which support or represent the cultural backgrounds that clearly reflected in all important items contained within musical instruments, dance moves, costumes and concept presentation. Theater also is a form of performance art that involves three main elements of the audience (receiver), actor (conveyor) and story (message delivered). These three elements are essential for the successful performance because theater is an art show that lifting messages about life, about the norm, the good, bad, evil, and a variety of human character all of these will be appear on stage to be presented to the audience so that the audience accepted act or acting in response to a communication process.

     Theater has to be a symbol of the present human expressions that express several elements like feelings, impressions or certain issues. It also functions to be a preferred entertainment appetite for the communities. Through body language (gestures) or either acting in the musical instruments, dance moves, costumes and presentation concepts, communication media can be included within the audience as things usually issue of humanity always happen in a long road of life. In addition, the theater as well able to stimulate the soul and the mind which is able to stimulate the minds of the audience and create a system to let you continued watching them without leaving performance until to what they perceived, so they would know what has been happening on the stage is a lie and distance not to be influenced by the sentimentality. Audience surely will watch it with diligence and passion to enable them to understand the messages that been delivered as a result, we can see how they expressing themselves in emotional mentality due to the availability laughter, sadness and so on. Obviously, that the theater did not deny the emotions yet seems to engage within living of uncertainty vision. Therefore, this theater should be used out without any abuse as people readily believe in the characters and action into practice in real life.

Identify four social / cultural groups and what media you think they use

       
      What is Culture? What can I understand about culture? Culture can be say as powerful human tool for communicate or gain something for their life but it always changing and easily lost because it exist only in our minds. Culture also is the characteristics of a particular group of people in the way they do things. It is best defined as everything from language, religion, social habits, music and art. Different groups different cultures and the media that they used also are various. There are four group that could I explain out more about their relationship with the media.

      The first social group is a group of the family that contains a man as father, wife as mother and kid as their children by living and gain experienced life together for enjoys its own culture with the usage of several media. Media that often be used by the family are media newspapers, magazines, radio and television. These media habitually contain different types of information, circumstances and relationships that pertain to life. For instance, my family, the press media are frequently used by my father to obtain the latest news and information in more detail. The use of magazines is used by my mother to learn about something new, especially in the field of cooking because there are all kinds newly recipes that encourage her to give it a try while usage of radio and television are frequently used by me and my siblings for entertainment as to listen and watching the stories published. Therefore, the usage of media in family is highly essential as a foundation for the family to do their mundane activities with happy and complete.

      Next social group is a group of the school that containing the head of school, teachers and students. School is a place for students to earn and learn all the things based on knowledge and should be incorporated in their lives. With respect to education, media are the symbol systems that teachers and students use to represent knowledge and technologies are the tools that enable them to share their knowledge representations with others. So, book and the computer which is for ‘Internet” are the two primary media used in the “form” approach. Why?  Book, surely make student love to read and gain more explanations. Computer act as tutors have positive effects on learning as measured by standardized achievement tests, are more motivating for students and are widely supported by teachers.

      Third, the social group is a group of the worker. Media is also developing in the workplace because of media facilities that are used to run the business which it will include information on how to effectively manage social media in the workplace to reduce legal and human resource risks, as well as ways leverage opportunities.These groups used a variety of media types. Among these are the Internet, printing, newspaper, and otherwise. They use the media to advertise their company for more advanced in which these media can help them increase company profits and obtain client for products and services offered by the company.

      Lastly, the social group is a group of global community which carries lot of potential today. It is not only about starting conversations but also about building relationships with a large audience on the web. It doesn't matter whether you are professional, small businessman, or the marketing director of a large organization, you still need network and stay connected with colleagues, customers, associates, and many others. Thanks to media, this relationship can be build. The media clearly seen that majority that been used by this group is Internet. They use social media like Facebook and Twitter to communicate with other people around the world by sharing verbal expression and experience. And, when they require feedback, there are viewers that rather much than happy to share their reviews. Hence by listening and respond, the construction of relationships with other people who are also using these social media such as Facebook and Twitter can be initiated. It enables us to have continuing conversation irrespective of where the person located.

DIRECT MAIL

Direct mail consists of leaflets, brochures, catalogs or letters that are mailed directly to people. Some mailing lists send material to all the people according to the jobs that people have or their age or income. These kind of advertising budgets a lot of money, but can reach so many people through it.

As we all know, usually large colorful outdoor signs can simply catch the attention of by-passers due to short and simple design for let viewers see them clearly and only for a few seconds. The main outdoor signs are posters, billboards and electronic displays. Billboards are owned by local companies and painted are few on buildings occasionally. Electronic billboards have large displays where ads change very speedily.

Radio is a powerful tool for mass communication because it is readily available radio and affordable. It works to listen to and is the fastest medium in providing latest information. Apart from getting the latest information through radio, newspapers also play an important role in community life through the newspaper now because it can tell us about what is happening around us, especially on matters of state. Benefits of the press, it is cheap and can be recycled and disadvantages, the newspaper could not be applied among teenagers because teenagers not to like reading the newspaper.
